The Brazos Chamber Orchestra will be presenting a Christmas concert on Monday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. It will be performed in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Cleburne, 105 E. Willingham, two blocks north of the courthouse square. The concert will be free to the public. This Christmas gift from the orchestra to the community will be a great family treat.
The BCO is a 45-piece orchestra that performs enjoyable music for its audiences. Whether you like Bach and Beethoven or Gershwin and John Williams, you will love the Brazos Chamber Orchestra. Each concert is designed to please everyone.
On this Christmas concert you will hear many of your seasonal favorites. The orchestra will be performing In the Bleak Midwinter, A Christmas Festival, The Christmas Waltz, O Holy Night, God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, Sleigh Ride, Christmas at the Movies and the always-beautiful Stille Nacht, featuring cellist Todd Evans of Cleburne.
The music director and conductor, David Anavitarte and his wife Kathy, founded the orchestra in 1999. Maestro Anavitarte is the Chairman of the Fine Arts Department at Southwestern Adventist University in Keene and is Director of the Choral Program at SWAU. The goal of the Brazos Chamber Orchestra is to bring orchestral fine arts to the communities that it serves. It has been accomplishing this goal for 10 seasons.
The members of the orchestra are professional and semi-professional players from Cleburne as well as Fort Worth, Arlington, Granbury and other cities in the area. Dr. Kurt Sprenger, the concertmaster, performs with the Fort Worth Symphony and is the conductor of the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra.
